City Meet Details
Good morning Hammerheads,
Buckle up, these emails are long ones... but they are very important. So please read through all of the information thoroughly. Our first meet will be against City tomorrow, June 12.
Arrival: 430pm
Start Time: 6pm
Location: 1001 Preston Avenue Charlottesville
Volunteering: Check in with me, Skye Durrer, when you arrive to get your name tag. it is essential that you serve in the position for which you signed up. Meets cannot run without all of the amazing parents who volunteer. The teams and swimmers are counting on you. It is extremely difficult to try to cover spots for people who do not show- please don't do that to me.
Clerk of Course: PLEASE remind swimmers to keep their volume at a moderate to low level when in the Clerk area. It is very important that swimmers be able to hear when their heat is called or moving up.
Emergency Situations: If there is an emergency and your swimmer(s) cannot attend (or you as a volunteer), please email Coach Helen ([email protected]) AND me ([email protected]) as soon as possible.
Entries are attached. Please keep in mind that relays may be adjusted between now and the meet.
Important information from CITY swim team:
Welcome Hollymead. All of the members of the City Swim Team welcome you to Washington Park, home of the City Swordfish. We look forward to a great swim meet. Read below for details about the swim meet on 6/12/24 WED: CITY vs. Hollymead.
Location & Parking: The Washington Park Pool is located on 10th Street NW (one block from Shenandoah Joe’s). The official address is 1001 Preston Ave.
You may park in the upper or lower Washington Park lots (upper lot is located next to the pool on 10th St, lower lot is accessed from Preston Ave across from Madison Ave). You may also park at Burley Middle School at Henry Avenue and Rose Hill Drive. Our swimmers are asked to save the pool parking lots for the visiting team. PLEASE ask your families to NOT park on the neighborhood streets (Henry Ave. and Charlton Ave.) out of respect for the neighbors.
Seating: Beginning at 4:30 PM, families and swimmers may enter the left gate (closest to the main parking lot).We reserve the space around the shallow end of the pool for visiting teams (to your right as you enter the main entrance) for the guest team. There are two permanent shade features and a third shade tent set up in that area. Your families are welcome to bring additional shade tents and chairs. Shade tents must be set up outside the fence as the deck has been too crowded with tents during past meets. I would appreciate it if you would remind parents, as we will remind our parents, to set up tents and chairs in areas where walkways would not be restricted.
Please remind your swimmers, parents and guests that there is no wading or walking in the zero depth section of the pool during the meet as there will not be lifeguards for that section.
Food: The concession stand will be open. They serve burgers, hot dogs and a variety of other snack items and drinks. There are also food options that are walkable along Preston Avenue (The Dairy Market is a food court with many food options - directly across Preston Ave. (https://dairymarketcville.

- Reserved Parking: A designated parking spot will be reserved in the lot next to the pool for the referee, computer operator, meet director and head coach upon your arrival. Please come to our computer area (go left after entering the pool) so we can go over all final details prior to the meet.

- Inclement Weather: If the situation is uncertain or deteriorating in the late afternoon, Betsy will call your (meet directors) at the number listed on the JSL website.
