Boar's Head at Hollymead- July 3
Hello Hammerheads!
We are excited to be hosting our first home meet of the season on Wednesday against Boar's Head. Please bring your team spirit, and most importantly, your good sportsmanship, to the pool for an awesome meet!
We are making a lot of changes to our home meet set up this year. We want to be the best hosts we can for these larger teams, so please be patient and adaptable as we navigate these changes together.
Settle in and read carefully.... it's going to be a long one.

Boar's Head at Hollymead - July 3
Meet Entries, Relays, and Heat Sheet: We will send as soon as possible. Some last minute changes were needed, but I wanted to get meet details to you as quickly as I could.
Arrival: 4pm
Start Time: 6pm
Theme: Red, White, and Blue
Team Picture: We will be taking the team picture right before the meet. Please have your swimmers wear red and/or black suits and encourage them to be excellent listeners so we can get the picture arranged and taken as quickly as possible.
Emergency Situations: If there is an emergency and your swimmer(s) cannot attend (or you as a volunteer), please email Coach Helen ([email protected]) AND me ([email protected]) as soon as possible.
Parking: See attached map.
- Where to park: On S Hollymead Dr on the same side of the pool (please try to park perpendicular to the road so we can fit as many cars in as possible), on Insurance Lane, or at Peace Lutheran Church.
- Where NOT to park: Our parking lot (reserved for away team), in the circle of Hollymead House Bed & Breakfast, in the Hollymead townhouse community (Somer Chase Ct or Hollymead Dr in front of the townhouses), on S Hollymead Dr on the opposite side of the pool.
Volunteers: Please check in with me, Skye Durrer, as soon as you arrive. I will be at the table with a green umbrella in the corner by the back gate entrance by the lane 1 blocks. Please make sure to pick up your name tag from me. If you are unable to find me, you can text me at 434-953-8353. It is essential that you serve in the position for which you signed up. Meets cannot run without all of the amazing parents who volunteer. The teams and swimmers are counting on you.
Hollymead Seating and Deck Space: PLEASE read carefully and review the attached map.
- We are moving our section of seating to the grassy area outside of the gate (near back entrance) so that we can be the best hosts we can be to our visiting teams. While there is plenty of shaded area (yay!) there is some sunny space that would warrant tents.
- Our Watch and Go area will be on the pool deck closest to the parking lot along Lane 1. Please be courteous of families who have a swimmer in a current race. It is a relatively narrow space that we will need share.
- Our swimmers will have a narrow walk way blocked off from the back gate to the clerk, along the fence. This space will be for swimmers only; family members should not be behind the blocks.
Please Bring:
- Flip flops or crocs- the pool deck will be hot
- Plenty of water and sunscreen
- Team cap and goggles (back up goggles - tented and clear- are a great idea as well)
- Snacks/dinner or CASH to purchase food
- Towel
Concessions: CASH ONLY. We will have various drinks and snacks as well as Chick-fil-a, pizza, and Italian Ice.
Meet Photos: You can view our amazing photos from the meets on our website.
Meet Etiquette Reminders:
- Swimmers need to check in with Coach Helen and/or Coach Lauren upon arrival. They should be near my table - the green umbrella in the corner by the back gate.
- Remember to show excellent sportsmanship - stay in the water until all swimmers are done, shake hands/high five the swimmers next to you, cheer for your team.
- We kindly ask that all swimmers and spectators stand respectfully during the playing of the National Anthem at our meets.
- Have swimmers check in with the coaches before they leave the meet. We will have a "standby" list to possibly add more races as exhibition for some swimmers with 2 or fewer races. Please do not leave without letting a coach know.
- Clean up your area before leaving- pick up trash and put any items away that were moved.
Weather: In the event of lightning or thunder, we will clear the pool deck (to your car) until we have had 30 minutes free of lightning/thunder. Please DO NOT leave unless we send out an alert that the Meet Directors have called the meet.
