Crozet at Hollymead Meet- July 10
Hello Hammerheads!
We are excited to be hosting Crozet this week. It's going to be a hot one, so please HYDRATE before and during the meet. Please bring your team spirit, and most importantly, your good sportsmanship, to the pool for an awesome meet!
We did a FANTASTIC job of adjusting to our new meet layout last week. We will continue to sit in the grassy area outside of the gate by the back entrance.

Crozet at Hollymead - July 10
Arrival: 4pm
Start Time: 6pm
Theme: Super Hero
Emergency Situations: If there is an emergency and your swimmer(s) cannot attend (or you as a volunteer), please email Coach Helen ([email protected]) AND me ([email protected]) as soon as possible.
Entries and Heat Sheet: I will email them as soon as I have them to share. Information in SwimTopia may be incorrect as we are having to adjust entries. We also may be able to enter additional swimmers in some races at the meet and will have a "wait-list." Please do not leave the meet without checking in with Coach Helen or Coach Lauren.
Parking: See attached map.
- Where to park: On S Hollymead Dr on the same side of the pool (please try to park perpendicular to the road so we can fit as many cars in as possible), on Hollymead Dr (outside of the townhouse community) and Insurance Lane, or at Peace Lutheran Church.
- Where NOT to park: Our parking lot (reserved for away team), in the circle of Hollymead House Bed & Breakfast, in the Hollymead townhouse community (Somer Chase Ct), on S Hollymead Dr on the opposite side of the pool.
Volunteers: Please check in with me, Skye Durrer, as soon as you arrive. I will be at the table with a green umbrella in the corner by the back gate entrance by the lane 1 blocks. Please make sure to pick up your name tag from me. If you are unable to find me, you can text me at 434-953-8353. It is essential that you serve in the position for which you signed up. Meets cannot run without all of the amazing parents who volunteer. The teams and swimmers are counting on you.
Hollymead Seating and Deck Space: Map is attached
- We are sitting in the grassy area outside of the gate so that we can be the best hosts we can be to our visiting teams. While there is plenty of shaded area (yay!) there is some sunny space that would warrant tents.
- Our Watch and Go area will be on the pool deck closest to the parking lot along Lane 1. Please be courteous of families who have a swimmer in the current race and move so they can see. It is a relatively narrow space that we will need share.
- Our swimmers will have a narrow walk way blocked off from the back gate to the clerk, along the fence. This space will be for swimmers only; family members should not be behind the blocks.
Please Bring:
- Flip flops or crocs- the pool deck will be hot
- Plenty of water and sunscreen
- Team cap and goggles (back up and clear/non-tinted goggles are a great idea as well)
- Snacks/dinner or CASH to purchase food
- Towel
Inclement Weather: The forecast is calling for possible storms on Wednesday night. It is essential that you are present at the meet so that if we have to clear the pool deck, you can take your child with you to your car. Coaches cannot be responsible for children during storm delays. Please make sure you have a plan in place for your swimmer(s) and communicate that plan with your swimmer(s) prior to the meet.
Concessions: CASH ONLY. We will have various drinks and snacks as well as Chick-fil-a and pizza. Kona Ice will be here too, so make sure to cool off with an icy treat.
Meet Photos: You can view our amazing photos from the meets on our website.
Meet Etiquette Reminders: Please discuss with your swimmers(s) before the meet
- Remember to show excellent sportsmanship - stay in the water until all swimmers are done, shake hands/high five the swimmers next to you, cheer for your team
- We kindly ask that all swimmers and spectators stand respectfully during the playing of the National Anthem at our meets.
- Have swimmers check in with the coaches before they leave the meet. We will have a "standby" list to possibly add more races as exhibition. Please do not leave without letting a coach know.
- Clean up your area before leaving- pick up trash and put any items away that were moved
Other Reminders
Coaches' Gifts: We have 10 Coaches and 5 CITs. It is our turn to tell them how much we appreciate their dedication and commitment to our children and the team. I will be collecting money for coaches gifts over the next couple weeks. You may bring cash to the pool and give it to me, or you can send your gift through Venmo (@skye-durrer, phone number 434-953-8353.)
Fun Day: Come have some fun with your teammates on Thursday. We ask that parents sign up to bring some food to share with the team. Please do so here for each week.
- We kindly request that food provided is reserved for our swimmers only. Once both the younger and older swim groups have been served, any remaining food may be shared with siblings
