    Forest Lakes Meet Information

    Hello Hammerheads!

Our first meet of the season is almost here, and we are excited to kick off the summer against Forest Lakes on Wednesday, June 10! We can't wait to see our swimmers race, cheer on their teammates, and show off all the hard work they've put in during practices.

    Meet Location

Forest Lakes South Pool (1650 Ashwood Boulevard). The pool and clubhouse are on the left side of the road about 1 mile east of 29 North after you turn at the light onto Ashwood Blvd.

As your families enter the pool area, they should head straight across the end of the pool, to the large area adjacent to the diving well. Please leave a path to enter Clerk which is located on the other side of the diving well.

Tents are permitted but need to maintain a 3 feet walking area all around the pool to allow access to clerk of course. Tents may be set up outside the fence on the grass or on deck immediately adjacent to the fence that runs behind the diving boards. A tent will be set up for your Coaches, located next to the diving well. Please note that, per our community association rules, the soccer field, tennis courts, volleyball court and gym are not to be used or played on by swimmers or their families during swim meets.

    Parking

Please be mindful of neighboring homes and follow any posted parking instructions. Park in the paved parking areas closest around our pool. There are a few handicapped parking spots in front of the lot.

If you park on the streets, please park on Ashwood Blvd. and make sure cars are on the grass and not in the street. The community association asks that you do not park on Powell Creek Drive, or in any of the nearby neighborhoods of Empress Place or Thornridge, or block any driveways or fire hydrants.

    Warm-Ups

Arrive by 445pm ready to swim. Our warm ups start at 515pm.

    Volunteering

Thank you to all of our amazing volunteers who help make swim meets possible!

If you have questions about your volunteer assignment or the meet itself, please reach out to your mentor family (if you have one) or contact me.

I will not be at the meet this week for Volunteer Check-In. When you arrive, please find Crystal Pariseau to receive your name tag and any instructions.

It is essential that you serve in the volunteer position for which you signed up. Our meets depend on everyone fulfilling their commitments, and we truly appreciate your support.

    What to Bring

    • Flip-flops or Crocs (the pool deck will be hot!)
    • Plenty of water
    • Sunscreen
    • Team cap
    • Goggles (including a backup pair if possible)
    • Clear/non-tinted goggles if your swimmer has them
    • Towel
    • Snacks, dinner, or money for concessions

    Inclement Weather

Parents must remain present at the meet. If weather requires us to clear the pool deck, swimmers must be supervised by their parent or designated adult.

If a storm approaches the area during the meet, all swimmers and their families will need to clear the deck area and return to their cars. Families may not hang out in the clubhouse as it is not large enough to accommodate coaches, swimmers or their families. Let's hope the weather is a non-issue. The Meet Directors, Referee, and Head Coach will gather to determine and agree on the next steps for the meet in the event of inclement weather. Rain, we can continue the swim meet as long as lifeguards can see the bottom of the pool.

Forest Lakes LIGHTNING AND THUNDER POLICY

Patrons must stay out of the water and off the deck for (30) minutes after the last thunder clap or bolt of lightning. Swimming pools are connected to underground piping, wiring, cables, deck grating, overhead metal building structures, and fencing, which attract lightning. Therefore, all patrons must exit the fenced pool area.

    Forest Lakes HEAVY RAIN policy

If there is heavy rain, but no thunder/lightning, patrons can swim until the lifeguard can not see the bottom of the pool due to rain or the lifeguard clears the pool for thunder or lighting.

Coaches cannot be responsible for children during weather delays. Please discuss your family's plan with your swimmer before arriving at the meet so they know exactly where to go if we need to leave the pool area.

    Meet Etiquette Reminders

Please review these important reminders with your swimmers before the meet:

    • Show excellent sportsmanship.
    • Stay in the water until all swimmers in your heat have finished.
    • Congratulate fellow swimmers with a handshake or high-five after races.
    • Cheer for your teammates!
    • Swimmers and spectators should stand respectfully during the National Anthem.
    • Swimmers must check in with a coach before leaving the meet. We often maintain a standby list for exhibition swims, and we need to know who is still available.
    • Before leaving, please clean up your area and dispose of all trash.

    Concessions

Forest Lakes will have food and drinks available for purchase at their snack bar. Concession stand will accept cash and Square payments.
